July 2024

Welcome to the VERY FIRST Asteria Blog!

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, there’s always something cool to check out in Sacramento. From historic spots and beautiful parks to lively farmers' markets and an AMAZING coffee scene, Sacramento is full of surprises. I am always being asked for recommendations or updates on events that are happening. So join me monthly as I give a roundup of the best of what this city has to offer, from hidden gems and trendy hangouts to the awesome small businesses that make Sac so unique. I want to show you Sacramento through my eyes.

Sacramento Wedding Florist

June has been a wild ride. Summer came in guns a blazin and has us all searching out anything we can do within the safety of AC. At the flower shop we hired two new florists and have been focused on updating the whole teams training. Somehow in the middle of all of that we also pulled off three weddings and only got a slight shoulder burn 😅

The general theme of this summers weddings have been soft and colorful. Peaches and blues, pinks and whites, and a stunning 7 color palette spring theme that I can’t wait to show off!

We were lucky enough for two of the weddings to be fairly local. One was at the always stunning Viscaya in Sacramento and the other was at The Maples in Woodland!

When you have a heavy wedding month like June fuel is KEY! There were two spots that we just couldn’t get enough of and both just happen to be fairly new,

One of my very favorite things is when two businesses come together! Anchor + Tree is a Sacramento based coffee roasted that houses a collective of over 20 small businesses. The owner, Donovan, uses his storefront on 16th + N to sell his own incredible roasts while helping to promote other small businesses. He is currently hosting Burnside Coffee Bar while their K St cafe is being created! Burnside is a very different coffee bar. Focusing on ingredients that are good for the environment and good for you. Their menu is WILD in the best way possible and is a nice refresh from the standard coffee scene. One of their recent menu items was a coconut lemonade iced coffee. They are doing things different and it all hits.

They were also our partner in our first ever scavenger hunt! The first Saturday of every month we are teaming up with a local coffee shop and hiding a flower wrap and a gift card for coffee somewhere in Sacramento. Anchor + Tree x Burnside were our first partners for last weeks hide and you guys were so excited that it was found in just 30 minutes!! I already can’t wait for next months, all hints as to who we are working with and where its being hidden are going to be done via Instagram and TikTok so make sure to follow along there!

If you are already following us on Instagram this next new favorite will not be any surprise. I am fully and complete consumed by Forgotten Bakery. It is dangerous that it’s just a five minute drive from the shop because that is my excuse for going MULTIPLE times a week. Honestly I blame Sam with Salt Water Designs - during our Mothers Day Market she brought me a breakfast bagel and I haven’t stopped going since. Forgotten just opened a few months ago and has already become a Sacramento staple (not just for me, like EVERYONE is obsessed). It is fully outside so I recommend either ordering ahead (brand new feature that we love) or getting there early to beat the heat. My go to is the Forgotten Bagel Sandwich. Picture this: Everything Bagel, Scallion Cream Cheese, Roasted Jalapeños, and Slices Of Thick Back…..ok you don’t have to make it up in your mind because I have a photo right here ——-> well….half a photo because I forgot to take one before diving in but….you’ll understand as soon as you try it. They also have empanadas and local coffee. Can not recommend enough that you RUN and try it. There’s a very good chance you will see me there as well, I’ll be the redhead pacing and drooling by the serving window.

Heading into July there are a couple things I am looking forward to. We got so much love on our July class theme that we opened up a second date! I am working on releasing all of the class schedule through the rest of the year this week as well. On July 13th we will be at the Flora Fresh booth at the California State Fair as part of their live flower shop demonstration. I am also being told I need to get a head start on fall projects because apparently that is already a thing???? I guess part of getting older is complaining about Target already having fall items up in July because it’s all I’ve been doing. We are also doing a couple of VERY exciting shop takeovers in the next couple of months that I will be announcing soon-ish. As soon as I get my shit together for it -_-

I wanted to take a second to thank each and every one of you for all of the love that you showed for the new branding launch. When I tell you this was a TERRIFYING project…making any change is scary but doing an entirely new branding was…..well let’s just say I have had a lot of sleepless nights! You guys showed it so much love and it means the world to me. This feels so much more cohesive for what I have envisioned for the future of Asteria and you loving it as much as I do gives me peace.

With the new branding came some new ideas! We launched Same Day Delivery shoppable through our website! This is updated throughout the day, everyday as we are making new pieces and allows you to shop the grab and go cooler without every stepping foot out into this heat!

Ok that feels like everything….I’m sure as soon as I get into shop one of the girls will remind me that I forgot to include something important but in the mean time, LOVEYOUSOMUCHBYEEEEE
