August 2024

Hey there, lovely readers!

This past month has been full of fun and community connections here in Sacramento. Here's a peek at what we've been up to:

Scavenger Hunt Fun

We hosted our second scavenger hunt with our August partner Pachamama Coffee, and this one was a blast! We hid a coffee gift certificate and flower wrap at the Sacramento Farmers Market, with some help from the amazing Lazy Dazy Ceramics. The hunt added an extra layer of excitement to our day and made the market visit even more enjoyable. The Sacramento Farmers Market is such a vibrant place, full of local vendors offering fresh produce, handmade crafts, and delicious treats. Our collaboration with Pachamama Coffee, a beloved local coffee shop with multiple locations in Sacramento, was fantastic. If you find yourself at their Midtown cafe, be sure to say hi to barista James for us! He’s always friendly and makes a mean latte. These hunts have become a fun way for us to engage with the community and spread some floral joy.

Also this month it just happened to be announced that Sacramento Midtown Farmers Market was voted the number one farmers market in California and third in the USA! This accolade is well-deserved, as the market is a hub of local produce, crafts, and community spirit. Every Saturday, the market transforms into a bustling gathering place where locals and visitors alike come to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, artisanal goods, and live music. It’s always a joy to visit and support local vendors. The sense of community is palpable, and it’s a fantastic way to start the weekend. Whether you're a longtime resident or just visiting Sacramento, the Midtown Farmers Market is a must-visit spot for fresh finds and friendly faces.

Collaboration with Sony

We were thrilled to collaborate with Sony for a special event celebrating the release of "It Ends With Us" in theaters this month. Hosting a floral design class in honor of the film was a unique experience. We invited some of Sacramentos favorite influencers to get creative with flowers inspired by the movie's themes, and it was wonderful to see their artistic sides come to life. The highlight was attending the advanced screening of the film. Watching the story unfold on the big screen was a magical experience, and being among the first to see it felt like a special treat. Combining our love for flowers with other forms of art and entertainment always brings a fresh perspective to our work.

Terrarium Workshop

After a packed wedding day, Salene and I decided to unwind by attending a build-your-own terrarium workshop at Sac City Stems. Mikaela, the owner, is a powerhouse of plant knowledge and enthusiasm. Her East Sacramento shop is a green oasis, filled with an incredible variety of plants and unique pots. The workshop was a delightful escape from our busy schedules. We got our hands dirty and created some beautiful terrariums, each one a tiny, self-sustaining ecosystem. It was a perfect way to de-stress and bond over our shared love of plants. If you’re a plant lover or looking for a unique activity in Sacramento, Mikaela’s workshops are a must-try.

Favorite Eats

This month, I made another visit to my favorite Japanese restaurant, Kyoto, in Land Park. While I don't eat fish, I DEVOUR everything else on their menu. Their veggie rolls and ramen are unbeatable, and Alex, my husbands, favorite thing to get there is the BBQ Albacore Tuna appetizer. This family-owned restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and a robust menu that keeps us coming back at least once a month. From their perfectly seasoned ramen to the delightful veggie rolls, everything is crafted with care. Their spicy beef ramen is my ultimate comfort food, especially when I’m feeling under the weather. The rich broth and tender beef work wonders on a stuffy nose and sore throat. If you’re looking for a delicious meal in Sacramento, Kyoto is a gem worth visiting.

Website Updates

July is typically a slower business month, so I took the chance to update our website. We’ve relaunched our birthday and anniversary reminder service, making it easier for you to remember important flower-sending dates. Now you can sign up and never miss an opportunity to surprise your loved ones with beautiful blooms. Additionally, we made some tweaks to improve the user experience, ensuring that browsing our site is as enjoyable as receiving our flowers. This behind-the-scenes work is crucial in keeping everything running smoothly and providing you with the best service possible.

Micro Weddings and Elopements

While we didn’t handle any full-scale weddings this month, we’ve been busy with micro weddings and elopement packages. These intimate celebrations have become my new favorite projects. Creating three distinct bridal bouquet styles in one week was a fun and creative challenge. Each bouquet was tailored to the bride’s unique vision, from rustic wildflowers to elegant roses. Micro weddings and elopements allow for a more personalized and relaxed experience, and it’s been wonderful to be a part of these special moments. If you're planning a smaller ceremony in Sacramento, we’ve got the perfect floral solutions for you.

That’s a wrap for August! It has been a wild month full of confusing weather, good food, joy, and a LOT of coffee! Thank you for joining me on these Sacramento adventures. Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, LOVEYOUSOMUCHBYEEEEE!
